The Implementation Research to Reduce Immunization Dropout in Ethiopia project, jointly implemented by John Snow, Inc. (JSI) and the Center for Digital Health and Implementation Science (CDHi) at the University of Gondar, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Regional Health Bureaus, is advancing toward its endline evaluation.
The project is being implemented in Gelalo, Afar; Gondar Zuria, Amhara; and Didessa, Oromia, generating evidence on barriers and enabling factors affecting continuity of immunization from Penta1 to MCV1 across diverse contexts.
As part of preparations for the endline assessment, data collectors received comprehensive training on September 18–19, 2026, covering household surveys, immunization session observations, service readiness assessments, caregiver exit interviews, process evaluation, and data quality assurance.
Following the training, data collection teams were deployed across the three implementation woredas. The endline assessment will examine changes since baseline and generate practical evidence to inform contextually appropriate approaches for reducing immunization dropout, strengthening routine immunization services, and improving timely and complete vaccination for children.
