A validation workshop was conducted to review, validate, and strengthen survey tools developed for the Data Quality Report (DQR). The workshop brought together technical experts and representatives from the Ministry of Health, including Maternal and Child Health (MCH), ECHRIG, and Clinical Audit teams, the World Bank, and participating universities under the Capacity Building and Mentorship Program (CBMP).

The workshop provided a collaborative platform for stakeholders to critically review the survey tools and ensure that they are clear, relevant, feasible, and aligned with the intended assessment requirements. Particular attention was given to newly introduced sections and Category B components incorporated into the tools.

Participants worked in technical groups to review six major survey tools covering data verification, completeness and timeliness; comprehensive health services at health posts; high-performing Primary Health Care Units (PHCUs); clinical mentorship on Basic Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (BEmONC); improved Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EmONC); and clinical audit activities.

Through group discussions and plenary sessions, participants identified areas requiring clarification, modification, addition, or removal and worked toward consensus on the proposed revisions. The participatory validation process helped ensure that the tools are technically sound, measurable, and practical for field-level assessment.

A key outcome of the workshop was agreement on the revisions required across the six survey tools. Representatives from the respective working groups committed to incorporating the agreed feedback and finalizing the revised tools.

The workshop concluded with a shared commitment among government, development partners, and academic institutions to strengthen the quality and reliability of data used to assess health service delivery and performance in Ethiopia.
