
𝗖𝗗𝗛𝗶 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 (𝗛𝗜𝗦) 𝗕𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴
Gondar, March 7, 2025 – The CDHi- Center for Digital Health and Implementation Science at the University of Gondar successfully held its biannual review meeting for the Capacity Building and Mentorship Program (CBMP), bringing together key healthcare stakeholders to assess and enhance regional health information systems (HIS).
𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁:
• The meeting was officially opened by Prof. Binyam Tilahun, PhD,MPH,FIAHSI. He highlighted the essential role of data in healthcare transformation and stressed the importance of ongoing capacity-building to enhance the region’s health information system.
• Progress & Future Plans: Getasew Amare presented a comprehensive progress report on CBMP, while the Amhara RHB shared insights on health data management improvements.
• UoG Hospital’s HIS Focus: Discussions revolved around the EMR system implementation, addressing challenges and strategizing for long-term success.
𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱:
◦ Governance & Leadership – Strengthening HIS leadership for sustainable growth.
◦ Digitalization & Innovation – Enhancing data management through eCHIS and other digital strategies.
◦ Capacity-Building – Training, mentorship, and strategies to increase HIS sustainability.

The meeting concluded with actionable steps toward enhanced HIS integration, stronger collaboration, and optimized resource utilization. In addition to assessing progress and future initiatives, the meeting provided a platform for open discussions on the support needed to effectively implement planned activities and move the program forward.
