What We Do ?

The University of Gondar (UoG), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MoH) of Ethiopia and Digital Health Activities (DHA), has established a National Interoperability Academy and a Community of Practice called the Ethiopian Digital Health Interoperability Network (EDHIN). This initiative aims to overcome interoperability skill gaps by providing sustainable technical support to the MoH and other stakeholders, establish local capacities for improved skillsets and knowledge on interoperability solutions, and promote the implementation of the national eHealth Architecture (eHA).

Research Approach

The center utilized a diverse and collaborative research method that involved experts from various fields of study. Researchers with backgrounds in technology, including computer and information science, clinical and health policy, as well as health information and digital health, came together to form a dedicated research team. In addition to this, an embedded approach is carried out by collaborating the researchers from the academic institutions and programmers from the health system to design and implement innovative implementation science researches. The embedded approach aimed the share skills and transfer knowledge among program and methodological experts. Innovation, context specificity, collaboration, and systems thinking are also key research approaches applied within the center.
