Berhanu Fikadie (MPH)
Assistant Professor
Berhanu Fikadie is an Assistant Professor of Public Health and Health Informatics in the Institute of Public Health, University of Gondar where he has been a faculty member since 2015.
Berhanu completed his Master degree at University of Gondar and his undergraduate studies at Jimma University. He has over 9 years of experience as a public health professional, educator and researcher. He has a solid background both in Public health and health informatics, with specific training and expertise in Health information system and public health. He was head of department of health informatics.
Berhanu is currently a core team of eHealth and a member of different national and global health informatics projects in the area of eHealth, mHealth and Health Data quality and data use-with funding from major national and international organizations including; Ethiopian Ministry of Health, Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, WHO, NORAD and others. He is currently a PhD student in Public Health Informatics at University of Gondar.
He has been coordinating Doris Duke Charitable foundation (DDCF) a five-year collaborative project to provide capacity building and mentorship in the implementation of information revolution agenda in Amhara and Benshangul Gumuz regions since 2019 and Maintaining Essential Health services during COVID-19 pandemic a WHO funded project in 2021. He led an implementation science research on vaccine supply management and a field supervisor for immunization practice.
He has published 65+ peer-reviewed papers on digital health; Health information system, mHealth, child health, data quality, and data use. His main research interests lie in the area of mHealth, eHealth, Health information system, Maternal and child health, and implementation science. He has collaborated actively with researchers in several other disciplines. He has successfully coordinate several research projects to completion.
