
𝐂𝐁𝐌𝐏 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐡𝐢𝐫 𝐃𝐚𝐫
The CBMP – Capacity Building and Mentorship Program in Ethiopia Regional HIS Review Meeting was successfully held in Bahir Dar. The event was jointly organized by CDHi-UoG and the Amhara Regional Health Bureau (ARHB). It served as a critical platform to review progress, identify challenges, share experiences, and align on the next steps to strengthen the HIS across the Amhara region.
The meeting opened with a welcome speech from Mr. Amare Shumet, Director of Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation at ARHB, followed by a keynote address from Mr. Gesit Tilahun, Deputy Head of the Regional Health Bureau who emphasized the importance of sustainable, region-led transformation in implementing digital health solutions.
Prof. Binyam Tilahun, PhD,MPH,FIAHSI, Executive Director of CDHi- Center for Digital Health and Implementation Science and Director of CBMP presented on the CBMP’s achievements, current challenges, and its strategic contribution to national health system strengthening efforts, along with Mr. Amare Minyihun.
The morning session continued with an open discussion and reflection, led by Mr. Gesit, Deputy Head of the Regional Health Bureau; Prof. Binyam Tilahun, CBMP Director; and Sr. Kishen, Head of the Secretariat of the Regional Health Bureau. Participants exchanged insights on the implementation of the electronic Community Health Information System (eCHIS), identified ongoing challenges, and proposed actionable solutions to sustain progress. During the session, Tehuledere Woreda was recognized and awarded for its exceptional performance in the Information Revolution, standing out as a model district.
The day concluded with a developing action plan, where representatives from CBMP woredas, zonal health departments, and the regional health bureau collaboratively developed a roadmap for the next phase of HIS strengthening activities in the region.
