Project Description
Perinatal mental health is a significant public health concern globally, with a notable burden observed in many lowโ and middleโincome countries, including Ethiopia. To address this challenge, the ENAT Project will develop and implement digital systems that strengthen perinatal mental healthcare. These systems will support screening and case finding, provide psychosocial support, and facilitate referral and linkage to appropriate care, ensuring timely and effective support throughout pregnancy and the postpartum period.
This initiative is a collaboration between the Center for Digital Health and Implementation Science (CDHi) at the University of Gondar and the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM), Belgium, bringing together expertise in digital innovation, mental health, and implementation science.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and conduct scoping or systematic reviews examining digital health interventions within perinatal mental healthcare.
- Contribute to research activities related to perinatal mental health and digital health innovation.
- Support the development, testing, and implementation of the digital systems.
- Engage with stakeholders, including healthcare providers, pregnant and postpartum women, and technical teams.
- Review national guidelines and policies related to perinatal mental healthcare and compare them with global recommendations.
- Participate in field visits to project implementation sites as needed.
- Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team across partner institutions.
Qualifications
- We are seeking a candidate who meets the following criteria:
- Holds a PhD in Mental Health, Public Health, Psychology, or a related field.
- Experience in mental health research, preferably in maternal or perinatal mental health.
- Experience conducting scoping or systematic reviews in relevant subject areas.
- Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Strong understanding of perinatal mental healthcare, including screening tools and care approaches.
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement and working with multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in digital health or digital mental health is an added advantage.
- Willingness and ability to travel to selected project implementation areas.
- Ability to review national guidelines and policies and compare them with global recommendations.
