
𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐚’𝐬 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐞
The CDHi- Center for Digital Health and Implementation Science at the University of Gondar (CDHi-UoG), in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Health (MoH), hosted a “𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐚” on May 1st, 2025.
Opening remarks were delivered by our Center’s Executive Director Prof. Binyam Tilahun, PhD,MPH,FIAHSI, Dr. Kassu Ketema Gurmu MD, PhD – Health System Officer at WHO Ethiopia, and Representative from the Policy, Strategy and Research LEO of the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia, who highlighted the objectives of the meeting and the expected outcomes.
The workshop brought together experts from the ministry, regional health bureaus, universities, implementing and development partners to assess the current landscape of implementation research, identify key stakeholders, and develop collaborative strategies to strengthen evidence-based healthcare practices.
Participants engaged in rich discussions following a presentation on key findings from the scoping review and qualitative study conducted by CDHi-UoG team. These studies explored the challenges, opportunities, and future directions in implementation research in Ethiopia.
As a result, the workshop produced a comprehensive mapping of active IR stakeholders, facilitated a shared understanding of Ethiopia’s implementation research landscape, and outlined actionable strategies to enhance coordinated efforts in evidence based decision making in the health system.
