Gondar, Ethiopia – 14 May 2024 – The Center for Digital Health and Implementation Science
(CDHi) at the University of Gondar has been honored with the Exceptional Performance Award
by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. This prestigious award was presented by the State Minister
of Ministry of Health Dr. Dereje Duguma in recognition of the CDHi team’s significant
contributions to advancing digital health in Ethiopia.
This recognition underscores CDHi’s dedication and outstanding contributions to Ethiopia’s
information revolution vision.
“We are grateful for this recognition and inspired to continue our efforts,” stated Dr. Binyam
Tilahun, the center’s director, upon receiving the award. He also expressed heartfelt appreciation
to the center staff and collaborators for their unwavering support throughout this journey. The
CDHi team expressed profound gratitude for the honor and conveyed their determination to
further amplify their endeavors in driving digital health innovation across the country. They
attributed this achievement to the collaborative spirit and steadfast support of their center staff
and partners, whose dedication has been instrumental in their journey thus far.
Additionally, Wogera Woreda, under the support and monitoring of CDHi, was awarded by the
ministry for its outstanding performance and achieving model status in the information
revolution. This recognition underscores Wogera Woreda’s exemplary efforts in implementing
digital health initiatives and contributing to the overall health information transformation in
Ethiopia.
These recognitions underscore the vital role of digital health in transforming healthcare delivery
across Ethiopia, aligning with national goals to leverage technology for improved health
