Health Information System(HIS) Supervision and Mentorship for Sustainable HIS Performance training
The Health Information System (HIS) supervision and mentorship training was delivered for Farta and Gondar Zuriya woredas to ensure sustainable HIS performance, which plays a pivotal role in empowering HIS personnel. HIS capacity building is essential for improving health data management practices and cultivating a culture of data quality for informed decision-making. Through comprehensive supervision and mentorship, knowledge sharing and transfer from experienced personnel to those with less experience are facilitated, thereby enhancing overall competency levels within the HIS workforce. In addition to mentorship, implementing a robust Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) system is vital for closely tracking performance and identifying areas for improvement. Supportive supervision further aids in monitoring program implementation and addressing any identified gaps in real time. The training program encompasses various aspects of HIS supervision, mentorship, M&E practices, and system assessments, including clinical audits, waiting time assessments, and client and staff satisfaction surveys. Participants also receive guidance on interpreting assessment results and utilizing revised IR assessment checklists.
The training, held from March 27th to 31st, 2024, involved a total of 36 participants from the two district health offices and 16 health centers. Of these participants, there were 27 males and nine females, with an average age of 31.36 ±2.8 years. This comprehensive training initiative aims to enhance HIS capacity and effectiveness, ultimately contributing to improved health data management practices and better-informed decision-making processes within the healthcare system.
