
Launch of Phase II Ethiopia Data Use Partnership (DUP) Project (DUP 2) in Collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health Ethiopia and Partners

Phase Two of the Data Use Partnership Project (DUP II) was launched with the support of JSI, HABTech Solutions, ThinkPlace, and the University of Gondar in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health Ethiopia. This initiative aligns with the health information revolution agenda, striving to advance health digitalization, maintain data quality, and promote equitable health services through ongoing evolution over a span of six years. State Minister Dr. Ayele Teshome emphasized DUP’s contributions, including an efficient health information system, affirming ongoing efforts to rectify gaps and address challenges, while ensuring the Ministry’s commitment to coordinating and ensuring the sustainability of DUP 2. This initiative, backed by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, builds upon the initial DUP 1 and endeavors to bolster the nation’s digital health initiatives for the next four years, as reiterated by Dr. Asnake Wakjira and emphasized by Mr. Ali Karim of the BMGF in their presentations. Mr. Ali Karim, Senior Program Officer at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, emphasized the significance of an information demand and sharing system for the project. He expressed readiness to collaborate with partner organizations and the Ministry of Health for a four-year period.
