An Implementation Science training workshop was held from November 4–8, 2024, bringing together early career researchers and postdoctoral fellows from the Capacity Building and Mentorship Program (CBMP) across six universities in Ethiopia, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Health and the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI). This workshop was part of the collaborative Lihiket 2.0 initiative, organized by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, the Center for Digital health and implementation Science (CDHI) at the University of Gondar, and EPHI.
The focus of the workshop was to advance implementation research aimed at improving the health system in Ethiopia by enhancing routine data quality and promoting evidence-based practices. Through interactive sessions, participants delved into key concepts and methodologies in implementation science, which involves translating research findings into everyday practice.
The training emphasized essential skills such as evaluating theories and frameworks, analyzing real-world case studies, and reflecting on past experiences. It was designed to be engaging and interactive, featuring various group activities where teams from different universities could reflect on their previous implementation efforts through the lens of implementation science.
